Fake Jobs: Italian and Sri Lankan remanded

An Italian and a Sri Lankan man arrested for foreign employment offenses have been remanded to December 5th. Sri Lankan News

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) arrested four people including an Italian from a hotel in Badulla to interview them for job opportunities in Romania, in violation of Sri Lankan laws. Sri Lankan News

The other Sri Lankans were released on personal bail of Rs. 500,000/- each.

Sri Lanka’s Overseas Employment Bureau said the men had posted ads on Facebook about job opportunities in Romania and given interviews, without any consent from the bureau.

About 30 people responded to the online ad and were given interviews at Baduall when the arrests were made.
