I have completed Three years Diploma in General Nursing and gained experience as well as theoretical and practical knowledge to groom as a Nursing Officer.
I was appointed as a Grade (III) Nursing Officer at the Teaching Hospital in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on January 11, 2017. During my tenure at the Teaching Hospital, Jaffna ( 04 years), I have contributed my nursing career at the Medical Ward and obtained approximately 12,000 active working hours (including overtime). Overall, I am confident enough with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases, medical research, and possibly other aspects of health in order to promote and maintain the health and well being of patients.
At present I am working at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Base Hospital Wathupitiwala, Sri Lanka and have approximately 5,000 hours of active working experience (including overtime) in an ICU atmosphere. I am especially trained for patient care, wound care, judgment and decision-making, geriatric care, infection control standards (especially for the COVID-19 pandemic situations), and to advocate for and care for individuals and support them through health and illnesses.In par with my present duties, I am acting as a caregiver for patients and helping them manage their physical needs, prevent illnesses, and treat health conditions. In order to ensure the same, I am trained to observe the patient, recording any relevant information to aid in treatment decision making. Throughout the treatment process, I follow the progress of the patient and act accordingly with the patient’s best interests in mind. I always ensure the care provided by myself extends beyond the administration of medications and other therapies that are responsible for the holistic care of patients and encompasses the psycho social, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs of the individual.
